yep...there are a few people that did the swap. I'm not sure if it's a direct swap or if there'll be any minute flaws. Just yesterday I saw a 3rd gen with a 97 trunk lid and rear section cruising down Beach Blvd.

Yes, it is a direct swap, I have done it. Here is a pic.

And yes, that is my 96, fully converted exterior to look like a 97+.

damn, that looks good. can save some $ if you buy a 95 and convert it to look like a 99 then

How much does a trunk lid cost?

Also, did you change the 95-96 bumper to a 97-99 one as well? thanks

I am located in Atlanta and I was looking for one a long time. Well, no such luck. So I went onto www.copartfinder.com and searched for one. I found one located in Columbus, Ohio. I called them up and they said it was white and had a spoiler, that is good because my car is white and I won't have to get it painted. So, they said $500.00 shipped freight, that includes the trunk lid, spoiler, and inner tail lights. Then I got the red/clears from Sprint.

I had already purchased a 99 rear bumper later last year with the rear body kit pieces. So it all came together.

so.. lights are not an issue ?

the lights will fit perfectly as well ?

you know how the 95-96 lights have that trench in them

no worries? direct swap ?.. just unscrew trunk and wireing and put in the 97 trunk no probs... that's is good to know
