I'm actually in the middle of doing mine on my 96 gle (cant believe the tranny went at 36k). So far I have taken off the auto and by the end of the week I should have the 5spd on there. Its not really difficult to do, it just takes time and make sure you have a nice jack, not a pos 2 ton like i bought, you need one that goes up high. I got my parts from cbr2 (one of the guys responsible for the writeup on that conversion)......btw im in nyc, u?

I'd love to do this conversion but I already have a 5sp!
If any one in CO plans to do this, let me know. I would love to help out! It sounds very interesting! Maybe I'll change mine to an Auto and back again!

Just curious, is an ECU change required? Or does it even care?

what if you sell your auto tranny or trade.

thats gotta make a difference in cost of the 5spd parts. not like you are gonna convert the car back to an auto when you sell it. auto trannys are worth more than a 5 spd. i dunno something to look at.

I love the idea of changing the transmission. But anyone knows after you change to 5 speed would it be identical to the stock 5 speed. I was reading some threads before and from my understanding it is not the same??????
