I recently switched from an older Acura Legend to a 99 Maxima GXE. I definitely notice that the Maxima has more horsepower and the autotranny shifts much smoother and quieter. Yes!
However, I also notice that I feel near every bump in the road when driving the Maxima -- versus the smoother and more stately Acura Legend ride. Is this standard? Or should I be checking the struts, shocks, or other suspension items? And, should I be looking to install OEM parts or are there better performance, more economical aftermarket alternatives?

The bumpy ride can be attributed to your tires and rims as well. If those are stock, then you may want to check your struts. If they haven't been changed yet, they may be going out. But it sounds pretty normal. Legends have a really smooth ride, and you will probably have to get accustomed to the harshness. But ask anyone on the org, its worth it.

What rough ride are you guys talking about? if a vehicle is not even lowered why complain about ride quality? now if you hit potholes and bumps every second you may want to invest in some adjustable shocks if thats the problem your encountering in the area you live in, or buy a 4x4 truck to absorb all the bumps.
