how can you get 2.5" pipe with a 2" cat?

how can you get 2.5" pipe with a 2" cat?

if the y pipe and cat are 2 inches? how do they compensate for the difference?

Maybe has something to do with welding a flange or adapter? I am not sure though so dont take that for sure.

i have 2.5 y pipe to stock cat to 2.5 custom catback, worked fine

i had mine done custom at my friends exhaust place, im guessing the just have a small piece that probable makes the pipe narrow to the 2 inches then have the same piece on the outlet, ill try to look under the car, i duno how to do it if ur doing it urself, if ur havin a place do it, they will know how to do it, they wont make a big deal about it, its an understood thing and a common thing

thats what id figure

but i was sitting around thinking last night and a friend suggested we make our own exhaust... and that was the FIRST problem with that idea i could think of.

The stock cat has a 2.4" inlet/outlet. Trust me, it's in my basement.

u da man, i guess that goes well with my 2.5 exhaust then, or am i always supposed to have a bigger diameter cat then xhaust?
