Exhaust system

I'm considering upgrading my exhaust and was wondering is anyone had any suggestions. I've seen 2 1/4 headers but looking for 2.5" also if anyone could help suggest, I'm stuck between the decision of a glass pack cherry bomb exhaust or chambered catlyic converter. Or even a packed system. I'm looking more for a performance and not just an aggressive sound. If anyone has any suggestions it would help

Ok ....

So first things first... riiiiight off the bat.

**** that cherry bomb rice bullsh*t... or don't... but seriously don't go that route.

Second...

judging from the fact that this is your first day of school here... I am going to assume you just bought your car??? Good! Happy for you...

Have you ever done headers on an engine that is a transverse v6? Do you understand how much of a royal pain in the azz it is?

IF you understand... and you understand that there is almost ZERO aftermarket support for your car... its manzo or whatever ebay headers you can find with the ill fitting **** and good luck.

3rd...

Why? Why headers? Y pipe is a more cost effective as well as performance improving upgrade... so do that.

4th thing... If you are really after an aftermarket looking exhaust... go for a cat back... and slap whatever silly sh*t you want on the back end of your car...

Assuming you want, as stated above, performance here is your flowchart.

Y pipe => Cat back exhaust w/ decent muffler (think magnaflow) => Headers.

Also... if you want to spend the several hundred dollars on your exhaust you should prolly look into some maintenance... since your car is at MINIMUM 16 years old...

I would start with basic maintenance. The factory produced a car capable of 0 to 60 car in 7 seconds. A properly maintained maxima should be able to manage 8 seconds now, perhaps.

The same money or less for a fancy exhaust system you could make a maxima produce just as much power and be far more reliable. Just by catching up on deferred maintenence.

Not as sexy, not as cool, but far more effective and reliable.

The number of newbies who choose exhaust systems and turbo chargers over basic deferred maintenence never ceases to amaze me.

I would go with what litch said. Since your looking for performance, go for a y-pipe.

The y-pipe sold on this site has the best fitment although it is expensive: http://warpspeedperformance.com/

Okay I've had my car for over a year & fixed just about everything that's wrong with it, including most maintenance. I already have a y-pipe that's gonna be put on soon. What's a good muffler & resonator that gives a smooth deep, low tone?
I know it can be found somewhere using the search button (which I have done) but I want to know what everyone recommends nowadays
