Why does everyone always say that?! The fourth gen Maxima came only in pearl white!! There is no 'plain white'. But yeah, I was thinking the exact same thing. I hear from painters all the time how big a pain in the a. working with pearl is. They said it is very difficult to match (and I, myself, have experienced my stuff not matching and I had to have it repainted). They explained it to me as a 3-step process. First you put a base coat of white. Then a coat of pearl, then a clear coat. So my question is how the heck did you buy a spray can of pearl white?! Does it match 100% Sexima? It looked good from the pic. but in person, is it a perfect match? What did you pay for the paint? I hope it matches perfectly. That way, I can start painting things myself (front grille, etc.). Please let me know. It doesn't seem possible but if you could get pearl white in a bottle, that would be really cool.

A little late to be worrying about it now since you've already painted over them.

About the side markers in the back. I know some laws say you need them. But if you look at older cars, alot of them have flat tail lights in the back that don't wrap around to the side. I was wondering what the chances would be of getting a red reflector (no light) into the side of the housing and leaving a circle or something unpainted? Then at night, if a car had it's headlights on, your car would reflect red from the back side of the car...

I don't think there's any law on having sidemarkers, due to the amount of cars out there that don't have em. The amount of people on here that have yanked their sidemarker bulbs because of their clear/red setups is probably pretty large. The amount of them that have been pulled over because "They don't have sidemarkers" is probably nil.

I could be wrong but I wouldn't be sweating over it. There's more stuff on my car that could run me tickets than no sidemarkers (no front license plate, y-pipe, blablabla)

I thought I asked a fairly straight-forward, simple question:

You just painted the outsides of your Altezzas. Do they match your paint 100% perfect? It's a yes or a no.

Thanks Sexima!

the law says that, when looking at a car from the side, it must reflect orange in the front and red in the back. so when you see those cars (like a 5th gen) with tails that dont wrap around, they have sidemarkers with reflectors on the side. same goes for the front. examples are 94-97 accords, 98+ accord coupes, NSX. you can get away with front reflectors that are white, but they should reflect red in the back. that's why the all clears are illegal. you should be ok since most cops dont bother if they can see some red from the back.

ok, not to be a d*ck or anything, but since you like finished you back lights why don't you put them on and stop showing all these pics of it and what it would look like on your car. If you could, maybe put them on your car so we can see what they look like. by the way, very nice idea, very original.

I'll answer to your post:

Ravq: sucks for me eh?

maxedout95: I said about million times now... Paintscratch.com

zboy: Nice idea... but I'm scared that it will look GHETTO when I just stick it on there... I wonder where I should put it...

GTR: thanks alot man. The link?

ereet: I hope you are right... I wish they wouldn't be so picky...

ptatohed: I think mine are just a little bit more brighter than the stock one... I am not sure yet since I haven't put it on... but I think it will match exactly if I had the tri-coat.

Romeo: Yes.. today I was wondering about it... I saw accords with sidemarkers at the back and I was thinking of doing that my self... Where would I attatch the sidemarker to? won't it look a bit stupid on the bumper? what you guys think?
I mean.... mine is a 4th generation...

96blueMaX: As I mentioned before, it was rainy today here in Virginia. Tommorow will be a good day so I will put it on tommorow with my friends.

whew....
now... to invent the sidemarkers....

YUM!

Those are Sexy! The only thing I'd do different is maybe spray the interior of the lens, that way the shine of the plastic would provide the shinyiness.

Sexy, Sexima. Sexy.

I've never seen the altezza's in person, but it sounds like they're delicate to take apart? I didn't know if there'd be any way to shove some red reflctor inside somewhere, and then when you paint the outside, just leave a little bit of it unpainted, so it reveals a portion of the reflector. That could be entirely impossible though. And I dunno how it would look either. Maybe if you get a nice side shot after you install them me or someone else could break out photoshop (if it's even possible to begin with).

Then again, as it's been mentioned, there's still alot of older cars on the road that don't have red on the side...

Thanks Sex. But are your Altezzas pearl? What did the paint cost you? What does the tri-coat cost. Thanks again.

I put the outside ones on..
from far away it looks pretty good
but the paint doesn't really match up.
I think I am going to bring it to a shop and have them paint it the perfect color
anyone have any idea on how much it'll take?

Sorry man. They look really good in the picture. Anyway, it's not your fault, pearl white is one of the hardest to match. If you must go to a shop, try to get some other stuff done at the same time. Because they'll charge you an orginal mixing fee and then additional things are less costly because the paint is already mixed. Good luck.
