I bouht a 97' Maxima GLE with 172,000 A/T. When I bought th car it seemed that 2nd gear and OD was not working, no idicator lights and fluid is pink and no burning smell. It seems like it wants to shift into 2nd but won't lock up ie: driving and put in 2nd manually you can feel it and see it in the rpm's a slight surge this is also when in D and turning OD on/off. I have installed the "Solenoid Valve Assembly Repair Kit 31940-80X25*" checked all circuits and when I dropped the pan there was no metal shavings and mechanically looked good, it still will not shift into 2nd and no OD. I have also connected a scan pad with consult and while doing a drive test it's reading that the trans is shifting into 1st,2nd,3rd, and OD so I shifted manually into 2nd and it just revs without lock up same with OD. I'm stumped if the computer is reading that it's shifting but isn't. I have been reading these forums for weeks now and cannot come up with and answer. My last option is to replace the Torque Converter but would rather not tackle that job if someone has any insight that it may be something else. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
