Transmission Swap

95 Maxima (Auto)

Planning on swapping out my transmission.. Its leaking (not from the pan) shifting violently from 1st to 2nd and awkwardly to 3rd and 4th.. Its also a PITA to shift out of park when it's cold..

So I've decided to swap it out..

I've heard the transmissions from 95-04 are all the same.

Is this true?

I'm coming across ones with limited slip differentials and without..

What's this all about?

First time ever doing a job like this on my own..

Please guide my the right way!

Stick with 95-99 transmission. Lsd is very desirable. More traction. Either way, you have alot on your plate with your rad support and now this. Why keep bothering me about my ypipe?

Edit: oh ok I just read your post that it's on hold.

Go with and lsd trans, easy as **** to swap and great for winter driving..Drain it, pull the axles, unplug it, remove the starter, trans bolts and converter nuts. Slide it back and down, Done..Good Luck.

So from 95-99 the transmissions are non lsd? Is my current transmission non lsd?

Will the 2000-2003 maxima transmissions bolt right into my 95?

Lsd is available on the Infiniti I30t and some Canadian model Maximas I believe. You can verify you trans by the plate on the firewall in your engine bay. RE4FO4A is the typical non lsd trans if I recall. 2000-2003 trans will be a whole different story. If you're not doing a 6 speed swap (even that's not easy) then just drop a 95-99 trans in.

Edit: also the lsd trans requires an lsd axle for the drivers side.
