My Maxima 1999 has something wring with the steering wheel. it respond fine to turning. but sometimes does not align correct when straightening out so the car can be driving straight but the steering wheel has to be tilted to keep it going straight. Any suggestions?

 

Have you had the wheel alignment checked?

You problem is not with the steering wheel, it is with the front suspension. Did you recently hit a curb ? You do need a front end alignment.
