belt squeaks

belt squeaks

Hi its starting to get cold and i have noticed that when i start my car the belt squeals then stops. It only started doing it after a belt change, does it men the belt is to tight or to lose.

It's too loose. Only tighten it a little at a time until it stops.

Mine does it too, but only when it's wet or moist. Is that the same fix?

Do it right. Check the belt deflection between the crank pulley and the PS pulley. Then tighten accordingly.

It's possible you have other issues, like oil dripping onto the belt, resulting in the temporary squeek.

That may be the cause of mine also now that i think about it. But i don't lose that much oil between changes to want to pull the top apart.
