Dashboard Lights Out

So I noticed driving home last night at 9pm I couldn't see how fast I was driving or any of the lights on my dashboard , even after I turned on my lights (as well as brights . I made sure the light dimmer was turned all the way up , still nothing . I seen that a fuse might of gone out , but where would it be located at , and what size fuse ? Is it the fuse location under neath the steering wheel column or the one underneath the hood ??

I'd guess it is the fuse box located inside the car, but if you open both fuse boxes, and look on the cover, it will tell what each fuse protects, and how many amps it is.

Give it a look/see.

Nothing specific underneath the steering wheel column , it had "Interior Illumi" and I replaced that (7.5A mini) and still nothing . Everything else in the car is fine just the dashboard lights won't come on !

Fuses # 13 & 18 are used for the dash lights and are in the dashboard fuse panel.
Fuse # 13 is in the center column, second from the bottom. The label is METER.
Fuse # 18 is in the center column, 7th from the bottom. The label is INTERIOR ILLUM.

If you have lights in the heater controls and window stitches, fuse # 18 is OK.

Have you checked to see if the new fuse that you out in is still good ? If you blew a fuse, and replaced it without first fixing the problem, you will probably blow the next fuse also. Unfortunately, you will have to figure out what caused the fuse to blow - not much fun. Look for a chafed wire that is shorting out to the body (ground).

It could be the dimmer switch itself. Mine went out several years ago. Unplug it, short the two wires, and see if the lights come on. If so you need a new switch.

Good point - when OP replaced the fuse, was the removed one blown ? If not, then wiring is fine, and the dimmer switch is very possible the problem.

OP only has to pry out the rectangular dimmer switch cover ( about 3/4" x 1 1/4") with a very small blade screwdriver on the shorter edge. The two wires will be push-clipped to the dimmer switch.
