hi,

I followed the check engine light manual and did everything as written but after I removed the plastic cover and tried to turn the screw head I noticed that there is no screw there! is it possible?

That is highly unlikely unless somebody screwed up lol. Do You have have a 95?

The screw has been known to break off of the printed circuit board from being turned against the stop with too much force.

The fact that the tape is still over the hole means nothing, I was always careful to not destroy it and then re-cover the hole.

is it ECU at all ? Its on the right side of pedals but doesn't look like the image in: http://vbxmaxima.8m.com/ecu.html (missing hole)

The photo that you posted looks (crappy quality) looks like the ECU to me, it is just missing the decal/label that covers the adjustment hole.

It's possible that someone broke the screw head off in the past.

Buy a code reader. They cost as little as 15 bucks on amazon.

The code reader will do all of what the screw does, and more.

Does the code reader reset the ECU even after the screw has broken?

I would say yes. I haven't seen a reader that could not reset codes. Though anything is possible. The cheap ones at Walmart reset codes.
