Solid metal lug nuts

Solid metal lug nuts
I'm looking to replace the two-part lugs on all my cars with solid steel lugs.
Freaking automotive places have consistently destroyed the "capped" chrome lug nuts every time I get a flat tire or decide to have someone do a rotation. Can't fit the socket or tire wrench over it anymore because the cap deforms. Not great if you get a flat...
You'd think that auto shops wouldn't want to torque your lugs down to 300 ft-lbs but I guess I'm wrong.
Looks like "gorilla" automotive is supposed to have some nice ones but I can't find plain steel lugs - they're all painted / colored. Looking for suggestions!

Look up McGard lug nuts. They have solid chrome plated with no veneers.
But even the threads fail before the threads on the studs strip. It's supposed to be that way.
Replacing Lug Nuts is easier than Lug Studs.
