I saw this too today and was about to post the same thing.. I just don't trust a $10 mod that supposedly gained 6hp..

If this is what your talking about.. I did not see the maxima application. On a side note.. our engine coolantDOES NOT run through our Throttle body.

www.howstuffworks.com is a good place to learn about motors. If you are trying to learn.

even if we could do this you can bypass it at a hardware store find the coolant line that is attached to the TB then goto the store find the same size connector to conect the tubes together but again i dont know if this would be a good thing or not i guess well wait till someone knows our cars to post one here later guys

Then what kind of coolant is it? On the lower part of the throttle body, there is coolant tubing that goes into the TB from the side and then appears to just come out the other side. Don't know what function that serves but I think it is engine coolant.

i've actually done this before on my max. it works ok in the summer, but when it starts to get cool your butterfly in the throttle body will start to stick and your idle will be at 3000rpm or something.

it IS actual coolant running through the bottom of the throttle body(not inside the TB). in one side and out the other. how do i know this? because when i was putting the hoses back on i leak a lot of coolant out and ended up having to put a whole bunch back in because my water temp went up.

anyway, to do this you just gotta pull both lines off and connect them together. simple mod but i honestly didn't feel any difference. might have helped a bit when it was real hot outside. but you definitely want to put that coolant lines back in when the weather gets colder.

Yes your correct. I guess I should have been clearer. I was attempting to make a point, did not do a very good job at it.

what about a larger throttle body? i read somewhere you can get better power, but this may not be so on our cars

Bypassing the TB is not a good idea. It will not give you any noticable gains. I believe the stillen pace max has a machined TB. I'm wondering if a Q45 TB will fit. It should have a larger bore.

Yes then what about your intake manifold? I have read that extrude(sp)honing(sp) is fairly good. I have seen cost as much as $700 for both. I am not trying to say it won't work, or that it is not worthwhile, I am just trying to help you think about the whole picture.

Here is the search results from throttle body maybe it will help you

Extrude honing and porting and polishing are both old performance techniques and they do work. They alow more air to enter the engine with less turbulence. The best way to do this is to have eveything matched ie intake plenum, manifold and heads. The TB is more difficult because the butterfly has to be replaced
