Yeah. They're wearing a mask and pointing a gun at us trying to get $100 to $500 a month out of us.

I'm in the process of downloading all of my photos and I'm out.

The tactic isn't appreciated and linked photos are begining to systematically disappear from forums and such.

This is the kind of sh** that makes me care less if web based businesses disappear.

I've been a paid account holder (on and off) since I joined this forum ... 17 years ago.

I'm not up to speed. What's happening? I have YEARS of pictures and tutorial information across different car makes stored in Photobucket. I've got to much time invested to change providers now.

No more 3rd party hosting without a paid premium subscription.

I used to have a personal website that I used primarily for image hosting. Years ago I got tired of paying for it and switched to Photobucket. *sigh* I'm now in the process of moving all my forum images to Imgur, but may still reboot my old site.

Here's an article about the $399 charge for a 3rd party hosting option.

They should consider their existing "paying customer base" before reducing functionality. Those users prepaid for a service that has a contractual expiration date. Until those legacy contracts end, they may be legally bound to support 3rd party hosting for those customers.

One way to look at it is the original paying customer base may have a few months to find a new hosting service like Imgur before their images disappear from 3rd party hosting sites.

The crappy part is that you're downloading a really low-res (50-100kb) file when I'm sure you originally uploaded a nice high res picture. That's what I noticed about my pictures.

I'm this close to just closing my account, and just hoping and assuming that all my pictures are still on my computer.

Some of the people on the CelicaSupra forums are going with Flickr.

I haven't noticed anything with my PhotoBucket account yet, so I will wait until it happens to me before deciding.

Yeah this sucks. Really sucks. Myself and countless others have been using photobucket for 3rd party hosting for years. The worst part isn't how awful they handled it, which was pretty awful, but that so many people's pics are now gone off of forums. All forums. Everywhere. All over the interwebz.

Before this, if you wanted to learn how to do something, you could almost always find a thread where someone posted pictures of their 'how-to' or 'setup' or 'instructions with pictorial'. Now most of those pics are gone. I can't tell you how many saved threads I have in my favorites folder where there were instructional pics.....and now they're basically just empty threads.

I went through my account yesterday and downloaded all my old pics. I think I'm going to use Imgur from now on.
