Approximately three years ago I started running a Warpspeed Y-Pipe on the 99 model SE 5-MT. I like the performance gains and how it makes working around the axle and under the engine easier. I consider it to be one of the "best bang for the buck" performance mods for the VQ30.

Since I've been happy with WS Y-pipe #1 on the 99 model, I ordered two more for the 98 and 97 models. So everybody gets a WS Y-Pipe. They just work great.

Typical performance gains for a 95-00 MAXIMA are 15-20 Horsepower

Replacing the Y-pipe went without surprise. However, bolts to the cat and from the b-pipe were rusted and stripped or broke into when I tried to remove them. They were too far gone for PBBlaster or torching to remedy. So a simple job turned into a much larger ordeal than I remember from when I installed the pipe on the 99 model. The weather forecast is for rain all day tomorrow so the 98 may be out of commission until the weather clears and I get some free time.

It turns out I already have a full walker exhaust system in the box. But I didn't plan on doing a full exhaust system replacement this weekend.

Without having a lift, do I need to remove the passenger side wheel and strut to slide the exhaust pipe into position over the rear torsion beam?

You silly..... Why commit to one when you can have ALL of them? LOL

He might stand a chance if he could say NO.

Craig, when we did my full Walker system less the rear O2 sensor length of pipe on our '97 Fed Spec, Auto I don't recall removing removing the rear pass. wheel and strut. We must of been able to snake it in there. On the our '97 the Walker rear O2 sensor's orientation was less than desirable so I ended up buying the NISMO piece and that fixed the precarious wire orientation associated with the Walker part. I probably should of done the WS Y, at the time. But I have had zero issues with the full Walker system.

That's it in a nutshell. Just another Maxima ****!

That's right Mike. We were able to snake in the new Walker kit without removing any wheel or suspension parts. I had a good used OEM B-pipe in the workshop. So I cleaned it up and sprayed it with some VHT to make it look like the other new parts. I just didn't like the looks of the replacement B-pipe compared to the OEM.

The new Walker system makes it sound like a new car. I didn't realize how much ambient noise an old exhaust system can make without really being loud.

The WS Y-pipe lets the engine breath better so we noticed a performance lift. It's hard to describe but the engine seems to run smoother between automatic gear shifts. Like it no longer needs to work to breathe.

As usual the WS Y-pipe comes with a perfect fit. We're really lucky to have a source for these quality Y-Pipes.

As it turns out, there is a WS Y-Pipe for a 1999-2000-2001 CA NISSAN MAXIMA.

Or better yet, he could still order the fed spec y-pipe, swap out the horrendous 99 spec header for a standard 95-99 Fed Spec header, along with an O2 simulator, for a few extra ponies.

Back in the day, Stillen made a ypipe that was compatible with all Maximas. Imagine a little "J" pipe bolting up to the CA Spec y-pipe to make a Fed Spec y-pipe.

They look great! I just hate the unequal length tone..

I had an ebay pipe modified to be equal length.

Don't need to take anything off to put the new exhaust on. The exhaust should just bolt up or weld on depending on the set up. The wheels and anything not related to the exhaust doesn't need to come off the car for an exhaust installation.
