new transmission limitted slip dif?

It looks like im gojng to replace the transmission in my 95 Maxima. As i searched for replavements i see that i have a choice of transmissions with or without a limited slip differrntial. Which do i need? How do i know what tranny is in there now?

The reason im chamging is the transmission shifts real hard between 1st and 2nd gears. Ive had the transmission serviced at the local nissan dealership and that did not solve the problem. Currently the transmission has 215,000 miles on it so im thinking the time is right for a new one.

In general, the USA got non limited differencials, while Canada got limited slip.

I' can check the Haynes manual for the casting codes if you like.

also...i'm seeing transmissions for a 95 Maxima on Ebay for $200 plus shipping. They're used trannys but would that be worth taking a chance on? That seems awful cheap. I looked at rockauto and they have one left for $1500
