Computer help
Have a 97 max had this problem last year for insp.have 2 computers 2 plug ports both computers do not cominicate checking codes also you have to get lucky that sensors are ready to pass insp. no matter how much you drive
Im trying to understand your questions.
Grammer issues ......
So I understand that you see the obd 2 port under the dash, and the Consult Port in the fuse box?
Also that you are connecting a code reader to the obd 2 port under the dash. For some reason the code reader does not communcate with the computer.
Is that what you meant to say?

The Consult Port in the fuse box was intended to hook up to Nissan dealer equipment. We don' use that one.
the obd 2 port under the dash usually works.
don't know why yours does not play well with the code reader you have.
First question...... does your code reader work on other cars. Perhaps one owned by family or friends? If no, the code reader is at fault. If yes, something else is going on with the wiring between the port and the computer.
I'm an old guy, I come from the time before computers. I react to symptoms the car has.
how long since you changed your spark plugs?
does your engine run smoothly?
is the check engine light on?
have you cleaned your throttle plate in the throttle body?
Do you get decent mileage, I mean close to 30 mpg on a highway trip, or 24 ish in mixed road conditions?
please post which part of the country you live in.
that information lets us know the climate your car has to deal with.
Do you mostly drive in town, or on the highway?

The computer measures electrical resistance within sensors and such. Corroded contacts increase ohm resistance. So the computer reacts to both real infomation from sensors as well as the corrosion. So basically the computer reacts to lies it is being told. Which makes the car run like crap.
The computer might not set a code, because it believes that the lies it is told is the truth.
I've helped a member who lives in Syracuse . A lot of the issues they had was due to corrosion.
Wish I could be more helpful .
Dennis points out the 7.5 amp fuse location in his post above. I had the happen once and the clock stopped working while the fuse was blown.

Regarding that fuse, and others.
I've had situations where the fuse its self was fine, but the contacts had corrosion. Light sanding with fine sandpaper made it work again.
so the fuse you checked might not look like it is blown, but its contacts need sanding.
