Stiff Suspension

I have a 1999. I had a 1998 previously. These are bullet proof cars. One thing I have noticed that is common among all Maximas. The rock hard suspension. Besides letting air out of the tires, what other method is there to soften suspension?

If you are on stock wheels, then you could go with a good all-season tire. Continental DWS is very nice, with great tread wear ratings, and light-weight compared to other tires. Vs an equal spec Kuhmo tire, the DWS were significantly lighter when I weighed them by just lifting, which would equate to a nicer ride quality.

Short of that, you may look into a more comfortable strut. Maybe KYB GR-2s? I'm not too familiar with comfortable factory replacement struts as all my cars are lowered.

The 1995 and 1996 cars had 15 inch rims. The later ones have 16 inch rims.

I had 15 inch rims on my 96. They were stiff, but handled fairly well. Once the tires were worn out I found a deal on 16 inch rims and brand new tires from a wrecked 97.

I immediately noticed that handling improved some, but the ride was harshet.

My reccomendaton is to find 15 inch rims from a 95 or 96.

DO NOT go with KYB struts, they failed on me after 3 years and are known to fail. Find something else.
