after suspension mod, still not stiff??!?!???

hey guys i just put in eibach and kybs all around and initially when i first put these on i LOVED them...they stiff and perfect... but a few weeks after the mod i feel as if the suspension is starting to wobble again, and no teh struts arent blown...i dont understand after putting the "harshest/stiffest" spring for the maxima i still feel floaty, so i dont no what people are talking about the springs being harsh.. they must be babies, because my maxima still feels like a boat to me... is there anything else i can do to fix this crap? thanks guys.

Sounds like your springs need a blue pill.

Maybe Eibach is too comfortable a ride for you? Seems attributed to your springs. How old is the car? Maybe your bushings are shot/soft.

This is why you go and spend a few more bucks on a set of fully adjustable coilovers.

I've had nothing but great reviews with the eibach springs. I found them stiff enough with a comfortable ride. But then again my springs were used with illuminas instead of kyb

If your combo is Eibach and GR-2's then the reason for the floatiness is your have too much spring on not enough dampening. The Eibachs would work better with KYB-AGX or Tokico-Illuminas....or just get some JIC's....I'm into lower but still comfortable....I'm running Progress SS/ Illuminas set @ 3F/4R.....

Sway bars and strut tower bars would help to stiffen the ride up.

Front and rear strut bars, a rear sway bar. Those would all help.

How so?

I've been running Eibachs with GR2's for years without a single problem.

Does the OP realise this is a sedan and not a Porche or Miata? Eibachs and KYB's stiffened by car 10 fold over stock. I do have a FSB, but had that on before the suspension. I have almost zero body roll, but then again, I don't take this thing onto a circuit.

eibachs are plently stiff....but I wouldn't be surprised if the car feels a little floaty when the eibachs are paired with stock replacement struts...get some konis and report back

I've had eibach then GC on illuminas and now GC on Konis....Koni is so ftmfw it's not even funny. simply perfect

HA, just noticed you were from Cincy too, small world. Yeah they will, he makes LTBs for the 5gens specifically.

How are those Cattman/Progress Coilovers? I was scared to go that route having no adjustments on the dampening rebound/jounce. But having several progress pruducts on my vehicle they go well beyond the call of duty with their products...So how's the ride? I love their troublefree strut mount design, it'll beat that pillow bearing in the long run....

You're tripping man, they aren't that stiff. I went from eibach springs/tokico illuminas to the progress coilovers and they are just a little bit stiffer and I love them!!!!! Still have great comfort!

yeah.. thanks for all of your input guys, idk what it is but i thought kyb are 15% stiffer than stock and matched the eibach i thought it was going to be too stiff, and i dont think its stiff at all...could it be a possibility of my tires cracking at all and in need of an alignment? or that wont be much difference?

First of all....I'm not sure why everyone in this thread seems to be gauging handling capabilities in terms of "how stiff is it?" not to mention comparing dampers in the same manner. there is sooooo much more to good handling than that. stiff doesn't always mean good. quality dampers can provide good body control without being harsh or "stiff." if you're too stiff, and/or have crappy dampers like AGX, or even illuminas, which too much compression damping when adjusting the rebound to handle stiff springs, you're losing potential grip.

and cracked tires, wtf is that?!

alignment isn't related to springs feeling soft.

My guess is that you were expecting the feeling of 500lb springs from the eibachs because people talk about them like they're unbearable...but in reality, they're not that bad.

Put some nice new sticky rubber on, definately get it aligned your toe is way out.
Stiff doesn't always mean better handling, as the previous poster said. There is way more to good handling then just a stiff suspension.

Report back after you put some nice rubber on and get it aligned correctly.
I'm sure your handling will improve quite a bit, while maintaining a descent ride.

Kyb and hp are not stiffer then stock. They have better rebound and control or stock shocks but in terms of stiffness stock shocks rule. I took off hp because they were not stiff and there are lots of post regarding aftermarket shocks. Go with illuminas so you can adjust the stiffness and you'll be happy..
