three idiot things on the 99

that makes me wonder about nissans lack of testing before introduction of a product.
- the electrical wires thatrun under where the oil filter is- I get oil on the wires when changing the filter
- the trunk release electric button on the door if you lean on it accidently it actuates the trunk release I only weigh 195
- the fact that the recirc button on the ac reverts to outside air when car is cut off, so to get the coldest air you have to turn recirc back on every time after cutting the car off

All of those have been fixed on newer Nissans.

My car is a a little over a year younger than me so I didn't have much say in the design while the engineers at Nissan were doing too much drugs and contracting sti's. my biggest complaint is how they strayed too far from the squareness of the 3rd gen, I look at my car sometimes and think it's fat and too bubble boy shaped. Maybe I'm just being self concious

Several years ago I rerouted the wiring harness to avoid the oil contact issue.

1. After I drain the oil from the pan, I prop the car up on it's side so the oil that comes out of the filter drains straight down. No mess here.
2. In 16 year of ownership, never had that problem. Sit ****ing still, would ya.
3. Agreed, but not that big of a deal. I'm messing with the radio or climate controls anyway.

That kind of clean would only be possible around me if you drove it a few months a year

That's just ridiculous. He must have taken that first picture back in 199x the day he got the car brand new off the lot after he took it home and spit shined it then recently had his buddy over at the NSA enhance it to HD quality

In Ohio it's bad enough I care as much as i do about my car

Love the idea on re-routing the wire. It's now on my "to do" list.

With all due respect, if those are the most notable drawbacks one finds worthy of complaint, I think that's a testament to Nissan's testing prior product introduction.

disagree, they are so simple a 8 year old boy scount would not have made those design mistakes
running a wire where it gets oil on it every time the quick lube in a hurry guy changes the filter???
and the 1999 egr pipe (used only one year?) thatclogs up was not a winner either. $450 labor to clean

What is oil going to affect insulated wire wrapped in a protective plastic when there's not even an exposed electrical connection there?

This is not the only car that has EGR clogging issues. Seafoaming every now and then would probably help the EGR if people did it, personally I'd never pay for it to be done because anyone can do it if they are willing to spend a couple hours instead of being lazy and tossing $450 at someone for it, unless they make more than $450 in a few hours at their job and if they do props to them
