Eclipse all the way....

i have one 12inch Eclipse DVC Aluminum Sub. It has the lowest, loudest and the cleanest bass you will ever get out of one sub. I have a 4oo watt Kicker Amp dedicated to it, plenty of juice for it. Loud enough in my max to make everrything shake and rattle. I have had 10 inch subs, and they just dont compare to it. I even had a solo baric 12" and even JL 12w6's, no comparison. My boy has 2 12inch Infinity KAppa Perfect Subs in his Lincoln MArk7 and they slam too, but he has x2 600 watt amps per sub sub. I reccomend the Eclipse sub and also the 6.5 component speakers as well for really clean and loud highs. Let me know what you decide. Just read my profile under audio!

I like my Eclipse high end speakers

I second his recommendation for the Eclipse mids and highs. I've had the 8062 6.5" component set for about a year now and they kick ***. Very punchy midbass and adjustable tweeter level in the cool looking crossovers, too.

Re: Eclipse all the way....

Eclipse in my opinion is the best car audio I have owned and experienced. Still waiting for an Eclipse head unit with MP3 capabilities.

I have a couple of Perfect 10's running off of a Kenwood KACX-401M, but I'm not much of an audiophile so I don't think I'm qualified to give a subjective opinion between the two. I guess I can't be of much help then, but my opinion on the Perfect 10's is that they sound nice. Me like.

Neither! They're both good subs, but I don't think either is an exceptional sub. Of course, with the right box, amp, and install, anything will sound great. I was looking at those, in addition to the Alumapro Alchemy, Boston Pro, Image Dynamics IDQ, and Crystal subs. All great subs. I think the subs that stand out out of these and the Perfects/Eclipse are the Alchemies, Boston Pro's, and Crystals. But at this level of quality, a lot of it is going to come down to what works best in your system. I went with the Alumapro's because they worked best with the amount of power I had, fit in a nice tiny box (.65 ft^3 for a 12"), and after driving all over ohio to listen, I thought they were at least a tie for best sounding, but a clear winner at lower powers. The Boston's wanted like 800 RMS each and the crystals at least 500 RMS. My pair of Alchemies are getting around 250 each and are doing fine. The Alumapro is also the coolest designed sub I've ever seen, not to mention the loudest single 12" CA&E has ever tested (see http://math.osu.edu/~ccunning/maxima/alchemy.html). If I had more power though, I'd probably have gone with the Crystals.

in my opinion it is the setup of the sub+amp+head unit that would make one sound better then the other. everyone's setup is different so the result will be different. u can't just determine that one sub is better then the other just because it sounds good in one setup and the other sub sounds bad on another. u can have a bad *** amp with okay sub that would sound bad *** vs. an ok amp with bad *** sub that sounds worst. now does that mean that okay sub is better then the bad *** one? NO. it's just that the setup is different so it will be different. some sub react better with certain amp and headunit. my advice is if u heard a good sounding setup and like it, then try to get the same setup. u can't just say this one is better then the other. at least not on one component alone. that is why u don't have same results at audio competition because everyones setup is different and it sounds better on some setup then others. just my two pennies.
