P0400 and P1447

I was wondering if there is a way to clean the egr tube without removing it. I was also wondering if yhe p1447 code could cause the p0400 code to show up

No. Ir needs to be removed so that the tube can be cleaned mechanically. You also need to remove the egr so that its housing and a sensor inside that can be cleaned.

How do you know the tube needs to be cleaned if it was done 30K ago? I have 168K on my car and the EGR tube has never been cleaned.

I don't know that it needs to be cleaned. I am just trying to eliminate reasons for why I have the 2 codes showing up. I read that the clogged tube could be the reason for the 400 code. The car has sat most of its life and now is a daily drive so its going crazy. I had both codes off for about a week then they came back

One test would be to remove and block the vaccum hose to the egr.

Then attach a 2 or 3 ft vacuum hose to the egr valve.

Start the car. Then suck on the hose. There should be a difffence in rpm if the tube is not blocked. Or no difference if not blocked.

Start running TCW-3 in your gas. It cleans this kind of crud out of your engine. I have been running it in my gas religiously for the 7 years I have owned my car. I have never had any EGR or emissions problems. And yes Max Ride 41, I just put $900 into my I30. It needed it. Wheel bearings, cv axles, valve cover gaskets, manifold gaskets, new hoses and vacuum lines. I know it will run for another 10 years. Damn, we love these cars or we wouldn't spend our money on them.

I doubt that the tc3 would clear a tube which is totally blocked. There would be no airflow through the tube.

I'll try the tc3 though, and observe the effects.
My tube was cleaned out a few years ago, and I'd like to keep it clean inside.

It probably won't clean a clogged tube. When my mechanic had the manifolds off he looked at my EGR tube and said it was pretty clean. That might explain my low emissions readings. My last NOX reading was 4ppm. I am sure the TCW-3 has kept the carbon build up down. I remember my Camry's EGR tube was clogging up all the time. They had a lousy design with a long tube. The Maxima tube is much shorter than the Camry's.
