P0138 got a question

Well I got this code twice so I know it the o2 sensor after cat and my car is not getting good mileage so it’s to time to change out .. so why I’m asking is better to use a 22 mil socket then a 7/8 o2 socket ? As far stripping goes I don’t need any headaches getting it out ... I already put some pb blaster on it and tell I get the new sensor..

The one after the cat has nothing to do with gas mileage. It's there to report a failed cat.

Failed and leaking fuel injectors are common in our cars. No codes are set, but mileage drops and the car is harder to start. All that extra gas can ruin the cat.

You need to fix the real cause.

Also perhaps replace the cat.

My p01038 code calls for a fail o2sensor had this code 3 years ago and replaced the sensor and no code afterwards.. and my car starts up on a dime no hard starts .. so I am not sure what your trying to say but I will replace my sensor first ..

Do you have Federal or California emmissions?
I understand that California has 5 rather than three oxy sensors.

I understand that you are asking about the sensor after the cat, and before it enters the tail pipe.
