Yeha, man im from NYC, and I've seen on a weekly a basis those same civics you are talking about smoke 5.0 stangs, camaros, and 3x and rx-7 twin turbo. WHERE THOSE TYPE R's and civics stock, far from it, but still destroying a car hot rod like that, its a shame, That made the point forme that i will truly never own an american sport car, or economy car. SOrry, but if you want to call me a rice boy also, but its still a shame when you have basically a second engine and you cant run in a quarter mile with a car like that, and in traffic, no skills on the drivers part

NO TALKING IN F&F Part 2

Wouldn't it be great if they did not have any talking in F&F Part 2 and just had car scenes? The acting in F&F Part 1 was soo bad, I wished I saw it at home to have a fast and forward button.....

Am I alone here?

The inspiration for the movie came from a story written about the illegal street racing scene in (what I can recall) NYC. It would do justice to the idea if it was to return there, but It sounds like FL will be the hot spot.

The biggest reason that imports were so heavily favored in the film was grown on the passion that "kids" with hand-me-down grocery getters could engineer their cars with NASA-like precision and knowlege to become speed machines. Emphasis was placed on an inexpenssive car to start with. Something that was basically worthless, then turned into something that was not only beautiful (which is in the eye of the beholder) but also more performance based than the car was originally designed for.

Many of the domestics that we talk about (Sangs, z28's, etc...) are all "speed" cars to start with. Their names are, for the most part, indicative of "performance". The director was getting at the idea (in his comentary of the film) that the opposite of these cars, "economy" cars if you will, where the amazing part of the underground racing scene. Be it a Civic, or a Focus (imports/domestic) it doesn't matter where the car company is based, but the obscure thought of harnesses the power of something that is concidered the antithesis of power is that which he felt most inspired by.

just my take on the whole thing
I saw that on the DVD also. I wonder if part 2 is gonna be any good? Take Care

LOL... I never said I was a honda lover you fukken moron. I said that if you ever came to the West Coast and see what the FAST AND FURIOUS is REALLY based on then you wouldn't have even said anything to begin with in your g@y post.

Anyhow, lets say you spend how much on a new 02 Z28? $25k if you are lucky? Not that I would but another dumbass would go spend $16k on a new civic and put $9k of engine mods into it and that would be an even race. Some spoiled brat that just gets his daddy to buy him some Camaro or Trans Am.

Anyhow you are a fukken moron and god excuse you and hope you live and die ignorantly.

And please I sure hope they don't throw in any domestics in the next movie, or else it'll become a typical trash race movie.

And I hope you dont respond either, since you are obviously a ******* clogging up the org with your ignorant posts.

Right... nothing but a flowmaster muffler and think they're harcore? See the difference is, a new '02 Z28 6-speed starts off as let's say a low 13 second car, he gets his flowmaster muffler and now he's become an even lower 13 second car, and his car sounds damn good too. Mr. Honda Civic driver over here takes his 16 second car and gets a flowmaster muffler... he's still got a 16 second car. The difference is 3 seconds of ET.... so now the civic driver has to put some freaking gigantic turbocharger and shot of nitrous on his ride, and he's still (at best) equal in speed to the Z28, and has lost his one advantage over the camaro (reliability) because he's going to have to rebuild his $hit within 5k miles. And to top it off his car sounds like a ****ed off weedwhacker having sex with a bumble bee.

Ya know, I'm not even going to waste my time on this gem of a comment. You sound like the typical rice boy- and I know words of wisdom go in one ear and out the other with you guys. I'm sure LA is full of badass front wheel drive 95 ft-lb or torque civics with 5 inch fart tips and gigantic rear wings for optimal non-drive-wheel downforce, whose owners have wet dreams every other night about hanging with real sports cars. I'm sure that it's just here in this million+ population "hick town" of Memphis, TN that the domestics are the ones kicking *** on the drag strip. I'm sure that it's just hear in Memphis that 19 out of 20 hondas with "type R" and "NOS" badges have just that, badges as nothing more.

Sounds to me like I disrupted your fantasies- get your panties out of that nasty little wad they're in and come join the rest of the world in this place also known as reality.

No, that makes three. They were the red F-150 Lightning used by Paul Walker's character Brian Spilner, the black Dodge Challenger driven by Vin Diesel's character Dominic Toretto, and the orange Chevrolet Chevelle SS also driven by Vin Diesel.

I just saw the part after the credits where Vin Diesel was in Baja, Mexico. I havent watched it all the way through the credits before and hadnt seen that part. Its funny though because they make the sound effects sound like the engine is revving up and he is going extremelly fast but he is on a dirt road going like 30. Take Care

OKAY OKAY.. I will call my friend Josh Fisher who goes to the New York Academy of Film and who has worked with Rob Cohen personally on the filming of the Fast and the Furious Part 1. He basically got to direct two scenes, one of which was cut and isnt even on the DVD, but the other scene was the one at Race Wars in Arizona when they all enter and park and he directed all the camera angles..

I will post an acurate account from my conversation with him, and give all the information I can.. NYC wouldn't make much sense for the movie..

oh god

dont start this, a whole book can be filled with all the cinematic and "common-sense" errors found in the movie.

the acting did suck, but I still respect vin diesel (even after "I live my life...bla bla bla").

Well obviously I've upset you terribly since you've resorted to baseless name calling and empty arguements... I didn't mean to disrupt your fantasies, honestly I didn't.

I've been to the west coast several times, even lived there before... and street racing there is just like it is here in Memphis, although there are more rice boys on the west coast.

Other then that- your responce to my post has absolutely no substance. Daddy buys their camaro or trans am? Huh? How do you know daddy didn't buy the civic? I think I see more "daddys" buying their kids civics than I do Z28s and Trans Ams... it just seems like a more sensible car to buy a kid. But anywho- I really don't see your point there.

Enough of the name calling and pointless arguements... let's get down to some numbers and see who the ignorant one is.

Speaking in terms of brand new cars and retail price for mods- can you name me a single import car that is a better 1/4 mile performer dollar for dollar, mod for mod than a new Z28?

A brand new Z28 starts with a sticker of 23,275. Everyone knows that chevrolets can be purchased without any hasle at or near "invoice" price, which is 21,346 (included destination fees). Right now chevy is offering 2002 cash back rebate on any new chevy- which brings our price down to $19,344.

For $19,344 plus any applicable taxes, I could leave the showroom floor with a brand new '02 Z28 6-speed that has about 340-350 flywheel horsepower and even more torque on tap, and is capable of low 13s with just a decent driver, high 12s with a great driver in 100% stock form.

So what import car are you going to start off with to compete? I won't bother to pick one and compare it because you'll probably tell me you wouldn't pick that car. So go ahead and tell me what '02 import car you would pick to take to your little west coast street races, and what mods if any you would do... and then we'll have a little side by side comparison.

If you come back at me with more baseless name calling, and nothing to back up the $hit you're talking, well you'll do nothing but prove my initial point.

Import car illegal races are definitely more ABUNDANT in the west coast because it was started as an asian thing a few years back. And we all know asians don't really abide in the midwest. East coast or west coast. Hollywood movie producers probably got the idea from seeing all the fixed up looking asian cars everywhere in LA and wanted to market that. They sure don't really ever produce many movies about Tennessee anymore. And if they did, it would surely bomb. Not saying anything bad about the people that live there, but thats just how things are. Anyhow, this response was never directed at you anyways. Just directed at one really stupid person that ticked me off with his stupid initial posting.

I definitely agree to that. But comparing new cars is the issue here. Super man over there is talking about his cheaply acquired 02 camaro. Well I definitely don't see how we can compare domestics to foreign cars on those grounds since no japanese auto maker makes a totally pointless car like the camaro. Good power for straightaways. whoopdidoo. Does it have any other features at all? not really. do a lot of people die in them- yep.. sure do. worth your money? hardly. Piece of **** car wont last you 4 years.
But we aren't talking about reliability anyways. We're trying to compare muscle car to muscle car.
japan doesn't make a muscle car - so riceboys take their daddy's cheaply insured civic and beefen it up. You can buy one for $14k and do an engine swap with turbo and NOS and bolt ons for about $7k these days. That'll put the car into 12's, granted it won't last more than a couple runs like that, but it was never meant to.
Anyhow, if you are such a freakin camaro lover then go sell your maxima and buy one of those $21,000 camaros. They're so cheap and so fast. I don't see why you'd ever want to get a Nissan Maxima for like $30k that is totally slower. Pssht.. get real.

As for the skyline. YUM. That would be a match for a Z28.

Come to the tracks on the west coast more often. Imports always smoke the domestics around here. Its a given fact.

Anyhow i'm not replying to any more threxxx postings because they are such a waste of time. can't really argue with people that don't know any better and think they know everything. its just an argument that you'll never be able to conclude, because the other guy is such a knuckle head and won't just can his trap.
