How to power cigarette lighter socket full time.

I want to charge my phone with the cigarette lighter socket.

It's currently on when the key is in the running or accessories position.

How should I alter the wiring so that it would be on full time.

Well you could run a wire direct from the battery ensuring it is safely tucked out of the way the entire path and secured. Not sure how the one in your console is attached, but if it's a wiring harness, unplug it and tape it off and get a used one from a pick a parts salvage place and wire it direct to the line you just ran Maybe add a fuseable link. Get your ground from anywhere. It's all the same.

Maybe what the real problem is, is the cigarette lighter charger plug. Many of the cheap ones charge extremely slow and hardly keep up if you are using the phone.

We bought this one last December:
Amazon Amazon
Although there might be better ones now. Let customer stars help deciding that!

And also make sure you use a heavy duty charging cable too. They are NOT all the same. Make sure is supports "QuickCharge".

Hope this helps!

Use this
Amazon Amazon

Tap to either fuse 10, 11, 22, 24, or 26, etc. at the fuse block (driver's knee location) to create a separate circuit.

Under the center console is a small plug for a car phone. It has the following wires:

Battery 10A - Yellow
Ignition ON/START 7.5A - Green
Ignition ACC/ON 7.5A - Yellow/Green
Ground - Black

if you need a car charger so bad that charging your phone while driving isn't enough how are you going to remember to charge this thing?

The above response response was not intended to include insight or to critique one’s habits or quirks.

It was simply provided to ID an alternative to making a potentially unnecessary mechanical alteration to a vehicle.

My response was an attempt to bring to light the possible necessity of the electrical alteration (I am what one would consider a 'noob', but do not think this alteration can be considered mechanical) mentioned in the OP. It seems you did not consider the uselessness of buying a device that needs to be charged to charge a device that also needs to be charged. Please respond to my comment content and defend your stance on having two devices that require charging instead of one. Must you must also buy a third charging device to charge the charging device in the quite likely event you forget to charge it?

I await your response with earnest anticipation,

Im just screwing around really, but I bought a 6000mah charger once and since it would charge my phone like 2-3 times I would forget to charge it, and the 3 or 4th time I would actually need a charge it would be dead

Not saying I would do this fix to my maxima, but if I start messing with the wiring --which im gonna-- Ill definitley want to do this if it doesn't drain the battery or do anything wonky

the queen can blow me
