PROBLEMS starting

Ok, when I start my car in the morning, it makes a weird noise (which is coming from the starter), then it dies. Only way to keep it running is to give it the gas. Which then for some reason thick smoke blows out the tail pipe. Some mornings it starts fine. No smoke and no noise. But sometimes after the car has been warmed up I start it and it will make the noise, but no smoke. and sometimes it don't make the noise at all. Any suggestions????

What year car and how many miles?

95's are known to have a common starter problem.

All years suffer from problems with the ECTS (Engine cooltant temperature sensor) that would cause hard starting and possiable trouble idling when cold.

How long does the noise last? You sure its from the starter? Check out www.motorvate.ca and the starter fix. I'd cure the noise and see if it helps with the idling and starting.

the noise last only a second. I'll do that, I'll fix the noise then worry about the starting prob. if it is still there.

The problems seem to similar not to be connected. Fixing one may fix the other, but if it doesn't it will narrow things down considerbally.
