My cable has frayed as it passes through the frame area by the radiator and it is stretching, and will probably snap soon.
I had a brilliant idea and found an OEM on eBay. Almost half the price of a Discount Online Nissan Dealer.
Disconnected from the latch and removed the bolts holding to the dash area position. Tied heavy string to the latch end and got it pulled 2/3 of the way. STUCK.
Anybody have any experience on what to remove to find what it's hanging up on? Looks like maybe it's between the fender and cradle for the engine area?
Remove the plastic inner fender. The cable probably has clips holding it.
Thank you as always JS!
I was heading in that direction as dusk hit last night. The 3 Philips screws that attach the liner to the fender just above the tire are giving me a hard time with a JIS #2. Tomorrow the whole wheel comes off so I can go animal! LOL
I was thinking maybe something like a Silverback Gorilla!
Removed the inner plastic wheel well liner and like JS said, it had something preventing it from passing!
Nylon Ties to the big wiring harness tucked way up high! For any of you poor slobs that might be forced to do this because of AGE! (The car, NOT you!) LOL Got to get behind the plastic barrier and help it through or cut both the nylon ties and replace appropriately!
All I can think is age and exposure. 227K and never garaged. The area where the fraying started was where it travels along and then passes by the radiator and then along back of the upper radiator support.
Vibrations and wind speed causing enough friction to make the brittle wrap fray?
Trying to pull it through finished the job to shreds!
Thanks again for getting me right to the Log Jam! LOL
Another repair on my never ending, unknown bucket list!
