HELP: Will Warspeed Y-pipe pass emissions?????
Hello all,
I’ve wanted to purchase the Warpspeed Y-pipe for a little while now but i’m not sure if it will pass emissions. On their website it says you SHOULD pass emissions and i’ve talk with people at the shop I bring my car to and they say it probably wouldn’t pass because it is a high flow cat. Has anyone who has the Warpspeed Y-pipe has any trouble with emissions???
I live in Georgia.
Thanks

How do I know if my car is a Cali spec? Also I just need to know that I could pass emissions since my dad does not want me to buy anything that is “illegal”.
You can post a pic of your engine bay I can tell you. An easy way to tell is to count the O2 sensors. A 99 Cali has 4 and none of them are behind the rear most cat. The other 4th gens have 3 sensors with one in the rear cat or just behind it. The Y pipe is different is why I ask.
Either way, the pipe is not street legal, but that's between you and your inspection station. It doesn't matter if Joe Shmo or I have gotten away with it in the past.
I think a better mod is the 00vi intake. When done correctly will retain all of the factory emissions equipment while gaining lots of power. Or just, hear me out here, save your money.

Pop your hood open, when your hoods popped open look immediately at the front radiator and engines front exhaust manifold area there's gonna be either 4 or 2 colored wires with plugs that are harnessed with the 2 metal engines water core or water pump metal return lines those would have the o2 sensors mounted on top of the engine in that very location. The y-pipe should pass emissions if you have your o2 sensors and bungs in place on the y-pipe warpspeed has pre-02 bungs all ready to go for an 02 sensors to be put in the y-pipe. The car must have and cataylic converter to pass the emissions.
It really depends on your state. The Y pipe has nothing to do with the main cat, so the idea of a high flow cat is not a question. You can run your stock main cat with a Y pipe. The Y pipe only does away with the two small cats. The Y pipe still has bungs for the O2 sensors so you will not get a CEL.
If your state does a visual inspection, you will fail. If it just an OBD test, you should be fine. You should also be fine if the do a tail pipe sniff test.

Visual test won't fail the smog or emissions the performance or emissions job the exhaust are capable to keep it to no or less pollution and emissions. The exhaust systems is doing its job functioning right to pass the smog.
