1999 Maxima Diagnosing a crank no start.
You need fuel pressure, fuel injector firing, and spark.
Step
1) Rotate the key to the run position. The security light should go out and stay out. If it comes back on and stays of you have a. Immobilizer problem. Try a different key.
2) Use a scann tool plugged into OBD2 port retrieve any fault codes. The ones we are looking for are crank shaft and cam sensor faults. Note: thier are two crank sensors, each has it's own fault code. If fault code appears remove the sensor and clean any material off the pickup surface. Re-install, and attempt to restart. If you scan tool supports scanning for pending faults, you could try this also. Faults are not always immediately registered as fault.
3) Check for fuel pressurpressure.
Rule of thumb. Never replace a part unless you can verify its bad. Just replacing a part because you guess it's bad can quickly get epensive.
