Just replaced alternator, question about normal voltage
Just put it a new alternator today, it was a long hassle. Car works well, engine has been running smooth... seems occasional mild rough-idle has been fixed so far. But I did readings on voltage and they seem lower than I remember reading here.
With car off, measuring at the battery, the voltage is 12.6v, with car at idle it starts out at 14.0v, then decreases to 13.8v, and after a drive where car is warmed up well, I seen it go down to 13.63v, and when I turned on high beams and radio and AC, it dropped to 13.43v. Maybe its 14v at first because RPMs are higher on a cold engine start?
Car seems to work fine but I'd like to know if this is normal. I put in a new AutoZone Gold alternator for SE model, its new, not re-manufactured. I got it cause it has lifetime warranty.
EDIT: tested it again today in the morning on cold engine, it was 14.2v at idle, at load it was like 14.15v, so maybe normal?

Mine has always shown a higher voltage when the engine is cold and tapers down into the mid 13s as the engine warms up.
My readings are taken from the cig lighter plug though, so it may actually be lower than actual at the alternator.

High 13s - 14 at idle with nothing drawing you should be fine. Any acc. will be drawing power so your situation should be normal.
