95 Maxima AC Compressor shims??

Hey guys
finally got the ac compressor installed but, for some reason, I’m unable to get the suction line to seat completely into the compressor. The reason for this is that lager item on the bottom of the suction line, I don’t know what that is called, is actually bumping up against the motor. The attached pic shows the part I’m talking about and I’ve circled the area hitting the engine.

if the compressor were to come forward 1/16 inch that would move it forward enough where that part would clear the engine allowing it to seat in the compressor.

My question….are there supposed to be shims on the mounting bolts? I can’t remember if there were shims when I removed the old compressor.

thanks!

The FSM makes no mention of shims or spacers.

But, is the mount plate in place?
