Background:
I have a Maxima 1997 pre 4/97 (California) with 158K miles. I need to pass the smog test but I have a CEL with code P0440, P0446 and P0325 indicating a likely faulty valve. I am not able to separate the old canister from the valve due to corrosion, so need to replace them both. The old canister part is 14950-40U00. It looks like I need the following combination for an exact replacement: 14950-56U17 (Canister) and 14935-54U1A (Valve).
My question:
Does anybody know if I can use 14950-56U18 and 14935-54U01 instead?
These parts are for > 4/97 Maxima and the only difference I can tell from pictures is the presence of a nipple with o-ring on the valve and a female intake on the canister. This combination is much cheaper and easier to find.
