21 inch rims on a lowered max

I know you guys probably won't believe this but I put a set of 21" rims on my max this past weekend. They were 21 x 9 Dronell MO-5's. The tires were 245/35-21 Dunlop SP 9000's. It rode better than my 20's and didn't rub. It only rubbed when I would hit a really hard dip in the road. I have some digital camera pics, but I have to figure out how to post them. Someone e-mail me and help me out so you can see them.

Did you have to modify the wheel wells?
I thought I remembered seeing a non-lowered max with 20s and it looked like the diameter of the wheels were bigger than the wheel well.
Hurry up and get these pics up

Although they won't compare to my 17's, I still wanna see em

Yes I do want a bigger rim and 21"s would be unbelieveable, but can't give up the performance!

Is you're car lowered? I seen 2 maxima's around where I live with 20's, and not lowered. Looks like a Hummer. But if you drop it, it will look somuch better. I've seen 21's on a civic with a widebody, lol.

Yikes. 20s look way too big, I can't imagine what 21s would look like.

21 inches seems like a bit much. I don't think I would ever do anything bigger than 18 pesonally. But give us pics!

Lets see

245/35-21 = 27.8" diameter
stock diam= ~25"

That wheel is almost 3" taller? I'd bet about 10lbs heavier too. Yikes... That would really screw things up.

Yes, my car is lowered 1.5" with H&R springs and Tockico Blue Struts. My rear fenders are rolled. The rims didn't really slow me down. Remember, I'm driving a max not a honda.

How much did 21" rims cost you anyway?

What he said...

...please explain a single benefit to 21" rims or anything close to that big for that matter. With the understanding that you are justifying the cost.

I would like to see it though... my buddy just sent me this link yesterday, and I would like to be able to reply with something as good.

That link is frightening. Why would anyone put the time/effort into that?

I spent an unhealthy amount of time yesterday trying to figure that out myself. All I can say is, at least it is original. Unfortunately, it is original because everyone else knew it would look that bad.

I have thought of a way to justify 21" rims though. If I added 21" inch rims, then I could justify any performance mods as "...making up for the rims..."

I hope he's got big aftermarket brakes because those stock discs are gonna look damn funny under those 21s.

Question:

So why you want custom turbo with upgraded internals and a 300 shot wet no2 kit??

Answer:

"...making up for the rims..."

Re: Re: ROTFLOL

There are no logical benefits to it, he just likes it. Half the stuff we do to our cars have no real benefit, we just like our cars more with those mods. Some people like their cars fast, he likes to cruise with 21"s. I have 19"s, body kit, custom paint, SC, custom interior, TV, NOS, and honestly, none of them are justifiable from a cost perspective. But I enjoy my car much more with those mods there.

Thanks for the support Shadow. I like big wheels and the rest of you haters can like little wheels. Everybody doesn't want to be speed racer all the time. The wheels are about $7000 or a little under with the tires.
