Possible Future Problem, Should I Sell ???

Ok the other nigth after going out and partying, my dumb *** friend through my car into park while I was going about 30miles an hour. How badly did I mess up my tranny? I ahven't had a problem YET. But I'm worried that it will go soon because of this. Should I sel the car? Or is it nothing to bad to worry about?

Of course, you mean that you'd inform a prospective buyer of the problem, right? I hope you wouldn't intentionally screw someone.

Just curious but what happened? Did the front tires lock up?

I'll have to remember not to buy used cars from you.

I did that on a Neon I rented about a month ago and nothing happened. The parking pin tried to engage but it couldn't because I was going too fast, about 10 mph. The tranny made this horrible racheting sound. I wouldn't worry about it. Just don't do it again.

I've been in a car where that happened before. I remember it was during a panic stop, and the transmission went "clack clack clack" (yeah like a ratcheting sound) at the time. No problems afterwards though. This was in a 1976 Dodge Colt (mechanically the same as a 76 Toyota Corolla).

It can't be good for the transmission, so I would suggest you change the ATF and hope for the best.

keep it. I used to have a cavalier, that i popped into reverse going 30mph, just stalled. I have popped my car into park at like 5mph by accident once,,,,made that ugly grinding/ratcheting sound. I wouldn't really worry about it. If you really think something is wrong, drop your pan, look on the bottom for any metal chunks, and put new fluid it. It should be ok. don't screw other people over.....I blew my automatic tranny and converted to 5spd......

whatever happened to ethics in this world..

*if* there is a problem with the vehicle and you have full knowledge of it and do not disclose it to the buyer, in a court of law you can be sued and will lose. Just a bit of business law for ya..

All the car did was kind of go into neutral, cause it just reved, the car didn't jerk or anything. Haven't hada problem with it yet it happend about a week ago. Maybe I will take off the pan and check for metal. Is it a tough job to do?
