I was about half way through shaving my rear emblem when I noticed what looked like black paint (I have a black MAX). Is this the paint or the crudd around the emblem? Is this normal? I stopped doing it just in case. It really looked like black paint (chipped looking, and very flexible unlike glue). Please help me...I'm new to doing mods to my maxima. I want to know what you saw when you shaved your rear Nissan emblem on a 96 preferably black MAXIMA. ThanX

Unless you are using a straight razor to shave

your trunk, I'd guess it is just the glue/urethane that is is used to attach the emblem to the trunk. Most have used WD-40 to remove the glue. However, whatever you use, try it in an unconspicious place first just to be sure that what you use doesn't effect the paint.

dont worry

dont worry about it just heat up with a blowdryer and then use some floss to pry it off..i had some black **** too but its not the paint (atleast in my case it wasnt) just use some bug and tar remover or wd 40 and scrub off excess glue and you will be fine...

If it is paint... take the car and get the trunk compounded. I'd get the whole car compounded while your at it. If for some spite by the devil it still looks messed up... ask about wetsanding it.
