Fuel filter hose

Anyone know where I can buy the hose that goes from the fuel filter to the engine? I know nissan sells it in that set length, but I want it longer because I AM SICK AND TIRED of leaving knuckle skin all over my firewall as as wrestle with getting the damn thing off. This weekend I absolutely could not pull the top hose off so I had to cut it, I won't be able to do that next time, not enough length left.
BTW, it hurts when you get gas in an open wound.
Oh yeah, and I have ABS, so that makes it harder (i've heard, I've never seen a max without abs)

Any parts store should have it. You need 5/16" FI hose. Make sure its the high pressure hose (100psi), 'cause normal fuel hose (up to about 20psi) just won't cut it!

A foot of the stuff costs about $3-$5 depending on what store you go to.

Don't get 1/4", that's what I accidently did. It doesn't cause any problems, but may incorrectly raise fuel pressure.

This may help

This weekend I used a hair dryer to warm up the hose and it came right off.

OH yeah

Removing part of the intake system, ie to clean the throttle body helps too.

I think you got the wrong hose. It doesn't sound like Fuel Injection hose, that just fuel hose. There's a BIG difference. Regular fuel hose can't handle the pressure of a FI system.

Look at the hose...does it say something along the lines of Fuel Injection, High Pressure, or 100PSI? If not, you should get the right hose ASAP. FI hose costs a lot more than 99 cents/foot.

I saw the stuff he was talking about at autozone, it is not the high pressure stuff and he should replace but don't forget the factor of safety that stuff has, I'm sure he'll be fine until something unusual happens, but then you never know when something unusual is going to happen.

for me it was much eaiser to pull the top hose out of the engine side than from the top of the fuel filter... you just pull really hard toward the firewall.. then after that it came off easily from the fuel filter.. the bottom hose was still a b!tch though

It took me 2 hours to change my feul filter last time. let's just say I'm not good when working in small tight places

Anyways, Steve Cutchen's MaxFAQs had a really good suggestion, remove the feul filter AND the hoses together. Replace the filter while it's outside, then put it all back in.

Also, thx to Bill the moderator's suggestion, I'm using the 300ZX filter, so I can wait to change at at 60K miles instead of 30K miles for the stock one.
