Check these new pictures out, I just got my car back today. I got the following done.
1) 50% tint all the way around
2) 3 autometer phantom guages installed: Oil Pressure, Oil temp, Battery (from left to right)
2) AWIA MP3 player, custom installed
3) 4 neon tubes install: 2 under dash, one under each front seat so the floor glows blue at night (Switch install in empty button space on dash
4) Power ant. override installed in arm-rest.

what do you guys think?

Nice job, the colour scheme could be better (like blue gauges too).

I was thinking about wiring some blue neons to the door lights...

so that when you open your door, that's when the neons would turn on... (and have a seperate switch too)
never followed through though

looks pretty good. Im not feeling the color of the three gauges below the radio, you should change them out to blue or super whites or even to match up you factory gauge cluster IMPO. I dont even think you really need them anyway, but i guess if you didnt like looking at an open space below the radio id do the same too. Neons, look hott, i have the same x2 front, x2 rear,
x1 in the square opening to trunk, x2 in trunk. Very nice at night! Im thinking about hiding one mini blue 6" up by the gauges to show off the Aluminum bezel i just put in....

How much did the gauges run you? I thought about getting an oil pressure/battery combo to put on my Apillar. Also how hard was it to get the gauges setup?

Let me answer some questions...

I'm going to try and justify what I did and answer some questions...

My theme needed something more than just blue because my radio is already glowing blue like the neons do (I'm not sure what size neons they are, I would guess 6 inches) Also, when behind my car at night, you can see through the 50% tint and see three glowing white circles on the dash (it looks really mean). You can't see the blue neon very well so I'm still in sleeper mode overall.

The guages are Autometer phantoms and they can be purchased for around $60 each but teh install will be much more expensive. These are the closest thing to the stock SE guages that can be found. In the daytime they are a perfect match and at night they give my car just a little more character then making everything blue) My only options for color in the guages were red, green, and white....

They are functional and I will use them. The battery gauge is something that should have been in the car to begin with and the oil guages should be good at the track when I'm done with the rest of my performance mods.

Don't put them in the A-pillar when you have so much space in your center, leave that for the little cars with no other room. I can't comment on the install because I had this done for me.

If anybody in the Rochester, NY area want to get something similar done, then let me know and I will pass on information for the place that installed it.

I like it but..

I have a question. Does the neon bother you at all while you are driving??

Best regards,

tony

the neon does not bother my the slighest bit. I had them burried up under the dash so the glow stays down on the floor. You can't even see the neon from the outside which proves that it won't distract my diving. My GF said "now I can see my feet" (which means it will take twice as long to pick out shoes now, but apart from that I could not be happier.

Thanks for the info on the gauges. I do have to admit that I would rather leave them white, but your color scheme does fit together pretty well. I mentioned the Apillar because I have the Bose system in my car, so I dont have that space you do. Plus I think that apillar gauges look good especially when they match the white faced gauges already in the car. What type of store did you have do your install some type of stereo store like Earmark? Another cool thing to do would be to get a phone holder with the hands free and radio mute. I know the bose does this, but some of the other stereos dont.

the other problem with the A pillar is that my guages are so bright that they may blind you if they are right in your face... that's just my opinion, it may work out fine... you could always kill that useless storage area below the bose and put them in there.. I had the install done at a place here in Rochester called the install shop by a guy called chad. later...

I want the same headunit, but I can't find anywhere that has it in stock!

I like the setup, you might want to change the gauge lights to blue to match your neon and do the same for the gauges in the dash (speedo and tach)

I got my head unit from Crutchfield and it was backordered for 3 months before I got it. Do a seach on EBAY, I've seen a lot of them on there for sale.

Lovin the blue neon

I really like that blue glow coming from under the dash. But I have one question: Why do you have an antenna cut-off switch?

I'm live in upstate NY and I'm worried about ice killing the ant motor. I also listen to a lot of mp3s so I don't really need it up when the radio is on.

I just noticed you hooked up a MECHANICAL oil pressure guage... aren't you afraid that it will spring a leak?

OK. I know this is a bit off the topic but. What type of radio is that? How much did it run you, and do you have ever occur'n problems many people get when they use after market radios, i.e.-blown fuses, rattling noises around the area your factory radio used to be, connection cutting off then back on when hitting harsh bumps ect...ect... I would REALLY appreciate an answer to this one.

Radio is an AWIA CDC-MP3 its costs $300 from Crutchfield.com they are always backordered (I ordered mine in just and got it at the end of august with a manufacters date for july 2000. You can find them on ebay a little cheaper. I can't comment on the install because I simply paid my local install shop to do the custom install and they took care of any problems. All I can say is that the AWIA is the coolest in dash reciever for less than $500. why get a CD changer that holds 10 CDs, when you can hold 10 hours of MP3s on one cd!

What exactly is the difference in the oil pressure gauges? I thought about adding oil pressure/battery but I don't really know what adding gauges entails.

Are you ****en serious??

MP3s are extensions for songs. Digital songs on PC.
In other words, with the aid of a burner you can make your own custom cd with 10 hours of mp3s on it. MP3s work out to aroung 5megs a song (on average)
dounload napster and you'll have access to more songs than you've ever wanted.
