BOSE stereo and aftermarket CD receiver upgrades

First of all...hello. This is my very first posting here and I do so even without owning a Maxima (yet). This group has been instrumental in my choice of the Nissan Maxima as my next car and I am hoping that I will be able to contribute to everyone as time goes on.

I do have a question based on my limited knowledge of the Maxima. I am curious if anyone knows if putting an aftermarket CD receiver in a Maxima with a BOSE system integrates with the amplifiers of that system or merely by-passes it. The reason I ask is that my mom's Maxima (a 91 that she still loves)had the Bose and we were forced to upgrade the speakers with the head unit a few years ago. Now that I am very seriously contemplating the purchase of a Max, I want to know what I am up against in the stereo dept. Any help is appreciated.

Anyone have a drk blue 98/99 5spd with few miles that they want to part with? --- Didn't think so but had to ask...

I'm sure it can integrate but your better off posting in the audio forum...

It does NOT integrate the amps. You need converters to allow bypass of the amps. They are available for about 40.00 I believe.

I used them and they sounded good until I unhooked my 2 12" Punch's. The bass output degrades significantly.

Here's the deal..... If you are adding subs, go woth the converters. If not, get new speakers and run them to the new HU.
