id go with performance first with the things carnal listed. get a Warpspeed Y-Pipe, warpspeedperformance.com Intake, CAI or Pop Charger, I switched from CAI to popcharger and like the popcharger better than CAI most will say the opposite. Get a custom cat-back because you dont gain much from them and its not worth 450 bucks to spend on a name brand cat-back. Im getting Dons VB mod in the next week or so and then ill know more about that and how it performs. Get those to start and youll be on your way. Then get FSTB, RSB Rims, tires Oh wait get Clear corners the yellow ones are nasty. Take Care
Exactly ... no use in going fast if you can't slow down or handle the car.
When I get my new Max ... first thing I'm going to do: big brake kit... stock brakes suck.

Yeah but its not like the mods we do- y-pipe,intake, and cat-back make the car so fast that the brakes cant stop it or it doesnt handle properly. All of the stuff that we do doesnt even make a huge difference in performance. Most of it is in our heads. Yes there is a gain but not as huge as some may think. Doing performance mods first is ok. Its still good to get the brakes and stuff but its not like your Maxima is going to be out of control if you do all of that stuff first. Take Care
It's not the fact that you are going "that much faster."
Like you said, it's all in our head. So when we are out on the road, instead of driving semi-conservatively, you think, "Hey, I got this y-pipe in, let me see what I can do."
Then instead of hitting the turn at 65 like normal on the way back, you hit it going 80-85 (or faster) ... and you aren't focusing on "driving" ... you are focusing on "going faster".
Once I got into a race on the highway that I usually take home from school. Stock suspension w/o RSB. I usually hit the turns at a conservative 65. That night, I hit the turn at almost 90. I felt like my car was going to flip over. I let go and let the other car go. I decided it wasn't worth it for me to kill myself over a win.
You know the one of the first things I did when I got my RSB? Take that turn again. It felt a lot less scary hitting the same turn at 85 with the RSB on than hitting the turn at 85 w/o the RSB.
And when you have performance mods on, do people have the common sense to let go when racing/speeding and your car doesn't have the ability to handle the situation? Some do, some don't. It's the people who don't that are in trouble.
And you have to admit that for a 3800-lb car, the brakes on the Maxima are pretty pathetic.
