Who has the fastest Maximas on the boards? How many are in the 13s or lower. I have not put mine on the track but when I get the ACT in I expect at least mid-13s. And what mods do you have. Any of you in houston area?

 

Until I see otherwise...I think its Don, 12.2 but will do better this year.

never ran quarter but it takes me a good 10.5 seconds to hit 0 to 60

 

what does don have done to his max? i just want to break 13.99 in the 1/4 mile. all i have is greddy cat back, stillen intake, and cattman down pipe. oh, and 75 shot of zex nitrus. what can i do to run 13's. the best i've had so far was a 14.5.

You have an auto I assume?

A 100 shot and a set a drag radials should do it for you. Maybe a VB mod?

 

What was your trap speed when you ran that 14.5? How about the 60ft time?

EJJ, no i don't have an auto and the zex nitrus setup doesn't have the jets to spray a 100 shot. i don't know what "trap speed" is but my reaction time was .912 (bad) 60ft time was 2.223. 1/8 was 9.398. 1000ft was 12.159. and the 1/4 mile was 14.525 @ 95.53 MPH. i have a 99 5 speed se. any suggestion is appreciated. i need to know mods that won't be tearing my wallet in half..

Yep..that ZEX 75 shot is only really putting 50HP at the wheel. That's the limitation for ZEX. It's really meant for 4 cylinder cars. This is why you don't see V8 people running ZEX. The "trap speed" is the 95.53mph. What other mods do you have?

 

didn't jamie run like a 11.7 with either a s/c and nos or a 100 shot or something like that? then he would be one of the fastest max

 

It was 12.7 I believe.

 

The only performance mods that i have are the Stillen intake, cattman y-pipe, and the greddy cat back..... i just need to shave .5 seconds off my 1/4 mile and i'll be happy.

I did a 14.3 at 102 with my 99 auto with a cold bottle you must have something wrong to only do a 14.5 with a 100hp shot of NOS.

 

i too am looking for all motor 13's. i need an exhaust and pulley. maybe a short shifter will help. then there's always slicks and further weight reduction.

 

You aren't the only one... you think you or I will get there first hehehe. Friendly competition is always good. We're talking about bolt on mods and street tires right? Thats my goal. 13.xxx with just bolt ons (not opening up the engine, not changing intake manifold, cams, headwork, etc) and regular everyday street tires.

 

alright, you shouldn't have told me that.... now i'm ****ed. what do you have done to your max? and back to the question, what can i do to my max besides a SC. that'll help run 13's? or what do you think could be wrong with my car.... maybe something needs to be cleaned.... any help please..

Strange...my old 97 GXE that I sold ran 14.53@95.94 in the quarter mile without NOS. Your 60', 1/8th and 1000ft times are all a little better than mine if not the same. I would think with a 50 shot you would be doing a lot better than a NA 5sp with basically the same mods.

Without more info, I don't have a clue whats wrong, but I can tell you this, SOMETHING is wrong if what I asked above is true. Take a look at VQdriver's sig and my own, mid-low 14s are bolt on N/A 5 speed territory.

There are alot of helpful, knowledgeable people on this board. You can count on many of us to help you figure out whats wrong.

 

He has only a 75shot ZEX system. That time is about right for a 75shot on an auto.

 

I just re-read the thread and realized that. He's a 5-speed though. Something's up with his car.

 

#1 he is running 14.5 with 50 hp from Nitrous..

#2 i ran 14.9 with a 100 shot of NOS so whats wrong with that? on the other hand i ran 14.7@93 with CAI and Y pipe ...

#3 if you are running that low a trap speed and that high a 1/4 mile time with 50 hp extra.. i would say that your Nitrous isn't working to your advantage.. something is wrong with your setup or something.. but then again.. 99's are a bit slower.. so i dunno.. your car must be FULLY loaded.. because synki was running 14.4 on his 60 shot of NOS .. but he is AUTO and NOS puts out more hp than Zex and Nitrous Express per shot

 

How on earth did you manage that? Brain-fart or fluid on the track. I ran a 17-something on my first run ever in this car. There was fluid on the track though.

 

My car is fully loaded with electric seats and all that... the only things i had out f the car at the time were the subs and the spare... i was thinking about taking out the passenger seat next time to see what the diff. is but still kinda iffy. i was also thinking about getting the fuel injectors cleaned at jiffy lube but thats kinda pricey. any other suggestions that may help? maybe throttle body or something?!?!? i'm going back on saturday so i need to know soon.

interesting... #2- NOS woes? anyways, kinda depressing that an auto with bolt ons and vb and 100 shot wont get into 13's (so i've heard)

 

The front seat weighs like 50 lbs, it doesn't make much of a difference. Something is WRONG with your car. You should get it on a dyno and see what the plot looks like. I ran 14.4 not taking anything out but subs and spare with just a Y-pipe, trapping higher than you did. Going by this fact alone, I can state that if you ran 14.5 on the bottle, your car (or your nitrous system) has a mechanical problem.

 

The problem is in the traction... NOS is either full on or not at all, and a 100 shot makes a TON of torque, so we spin our tires through 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Let off the throttle to get traction, and the NOS shuts off, get on the throttle again, and again the wheels spin... Now, if we had an LSD or drag radials, it would be a whole different story...

 

i never went to the track for a 1/4 mile time but when i race where i live i dont race other maximas i race the other cars that are supposed too beat me who cares about who got the fastest maxima i dont care. u got*to love boost hehehehe

I don't have any plans right now, hopefully my front end is fixed by then. I don't believe they'll let me run with the amount of damage I have right now, even though the car is obviously perfectly driveable.

 

How bout carbon fiber quarter panels? That could give you another .1sec
