I have an automagic. It's a limited edition maxima that has super fast shifts. It's also 270hp.

an automagic

An automagic is a car that has everything a five speed has. It has three pedals, and stick shift, etc.

However, what differs a 5 sp. from an automagic is you just think about shifting in your head and it does it, you just move the stick to one gear and it shifts magically, hence the name...automagic

Guys, leave him alone. Stop lying to him.

Maxguy, an automagic was a special transmission which was an option to all Auto Maxima's beginning in 1998.

The transmission is a 2 speed (no overdrive). The "magic" lies in the gearing. The 2 speed transmission acts as if no shifting occurs (like in a BMW Stetsosonic) and runs a 4,000 RPM at 130 MPH.

Thats a lie, my 95 is an automagic. Okay guys, stop lying to the poor guy, I know I wouldnt want to be lied to. An automagic, is an automatic transimssion which is can shift faster than a five speed. It was a special option, but started before 98. There is only one way to see if you have an automagic. Lift up the hood, then remove the battery. Remove all the trays and intake scoops in the way. Then you gotta climb all the way in there and near the bottom of the engine bay is a little sticker that says whether its an automagic or automatic transmission. If you dont see the sticker at first, just keep taking stuff out, youll see it eventually.

You see, my Maxima came with this special option, called automagic...it was great, shifted faster than a manual and would snap your neck on acceleration. But then one day I tried changing the transmission fluid, and bang the automagic controller was fried! Now I drive an autotragic.

Be wise, young one. Don't mess with the automagics.

Monster all of you!!!

This is too funny.

As from Websters Dictionary and the Haynes Manual:

DLAutomagic - special edition Maxima transmission which is a hybrid of a high performance engine(270HP at the wheels) combined with the shifting versatility of a manual. All shifts are done via a combination or sequence of button presses from a steering wheel mounted shifter. This was a limited edition model only provided in 687 cars.

Somebody has to tell the truth here, so I'll fess up.

"Automagic" automatic transmissions were produced for the SE-Limited Maxima's. The gear ratios and shift points are different, which makes the Limited Edition Maxima's "magically" the fastest of them all!

Thats what Automagic means, and only the SE-L owners know this. Shhhh don't tell anybody else, we don't want the secret to get out.

If not cared for, the automagic will become an autotragic

Good thing I constantly talk to my automagic so she doesn't go into depression.

An automagic is a special limited edition form of the Nissan Maxima, it is a special type of transmission that has the technology of formula 1 type shift ***** on the steering wheel. It allows us to shift gears within 1 billionth of a second and there are unlimited gears, not 4,5, or 6, but infinite, (hence the 'magic'). Only about 500 Maximas produced have this special transmission and it was a $10 000 option. If you'd like, i have a special automagic for sale for the low low price of just under $40k...

This thread is so far gone and way too funny.

Anybody else want to try and explain automagic?

I think we should have a contest. Lets see who gives the best explanation of automagic and autotragic. The winner could get a new 2K2 6 speed, paid for by your donations to MAXIMA.ORG

The slower edition of maxima, they have four gears, when they really should have five. The shifter has a funny looking botton, and they don't have a clutch!

I have no idea where "automagic" came from, but i've been driving cars now for almost 20 years and the term "automagic" to me is one of the most worthless automobile-related words i've ever heard.

I think we have a winner here!

Can't we count the locking torque converter as the 5th gear?
