So what exactly does the bottom left button do again?

If you are talking about the OEM remote then it should be the panic button.

Is this the remote you are talking about??

Some call it the panic button, when I am looking for my car at the mall it becomes the car locator button.

Yeah i do that too. It's really funny when you don't know where your car really is and you push the button, and theres people standing near it, and they jump back like 10 feet, i won't go near the car untill they leave cause i'm laughing my **** off!!

Or accuse them of doing something wrong. Like if they are near it and the alorm goes off just start asking them why they touched it or accuse them of breaking in. Just to see how far you can take it with them.

While we are on the subject of remotes. In anotehr thread I saw somone posted that when he rolls down the windows using the unlock button on the remote that he is able to roll them back up by setting the alarm. Is anyone able to do this? I tried on mine and no go. But he had a 96 or so and I got a 98. I dont know if he meant with an aftermarket alarm or something but just curious if this works for any of you.

Does anybody know where the receiver is? Haynes manual does not have schematic diagram for remote control, if I remember right.

It was me On my old 96 I had a Viper 550 with remote start and the automated windows option. Could start that sucker, roll down the windows, with the system bumping, from 100 yards away, and SCARE the HELL out of little old ladys walking past, or teenagers and such. As soon as they went over to look in, and maybe think about grabbing something out of my car, I would turn off the engine and armed it back, which rolled up all four windows.

awww that was fun lol

Thanks for the info. BTW I just measured the remote transmitting frequency, around 434 MHz. If I get a chance I'd open the receiver and hard-test its protocol for some mods later on.

Pretty pointless isn't it seeing as how the holding down the lock button does the same thing?

What I like to do, is if your car is near the front of a building and somebody is waiting for somebody inside blocking people, give them a few blasts of the panic alarm, so they think that somebody is honking at them.. hehehe.

How wierd for my car holding down the grey button for 2+ seconds activates the alarm. Works on both my remotes as well?

Go figure....

on my 95, the button on the lower left turned on the dome light as someone said earlier........about the auto roll-up window thing on my car......that was done with an automate alarm that was installed by the dealer (in addition to the regular alarm)
