Newbie: Buying 95-99 Maxima

I'm looking to buy a 95-99 Maxima.
Hopefully a SE.
What should I look out for?? Common problems, etc.
Do you recommend any Nissan Dealers for OEM parts??
Or other places for OEM parts??

Any other info would be greatly appreciated.

One more thing, the 95-96 and the 97-99 have slightly different exteriors, correct??
How about the interior??

Thanks~~

yes, slightly different exterior, and minor changes in stereo and climate control inside. Also, an SE will have black window trim and body-color door handles, GXE/GLE have chrome instead.

Most of the problems I've heard of involve starter and moonroof failure (and the moonroof repair is very expensive)... My '99 had an ignition coil failure at ~30K, warranty covered the $900 repair bill.

Just get the newest Max you can afford (warranty is only 36K/3Yrs).

Powertrain warranty which covers engine, transmission and major related components is 5 years/60K though..so that helps. Keep that in mind.

Maybe even check out the ECU when you go to buy. It can tell you if there are bad sensors etc.
