That silver edge is just painted from the inside. It can easily be removed with some alcohol and a rag. But only if you are willing to crack the lenses open.

The DOT does not ceritfy products. It merely provides guidlines that must be met. Any time you see "DOT approved," It's BS. If you look at the Corvette, it has a little reflector on the side of the bumper, not in the lights. Same with the accord or the Prelude. This is what makes Altezzas legal for them. Our reflector is built in to our tailight housing and those Altezzas dont have them...illegal.

 

They look pretty darn good. The carbon fiber looks really good on a black Maxi and pretty good on your dark blue Maxi. But that silver around the edge has to go! And is it just a bad picture or are your ground effects not body color?

 

Good point. I definitely noticed how the 95-99 Maxima didn't have to have a separate side parking light in the rear because the taillights have built-in reflectors. If the Altezza taillight isn't reflective from the side, it's a hazard regardless of DOT approval. Perhaps if the light may be disassembled without breaking it, a thin reflector could be mounted in there somewhere.

He did ask for them before I had even installed the Carbon's.
