Maxima and prelude 97

im a owner of a 2000 honda prelude and there's a lot of confusion on the prelude's stats. so here's the stats.
there are three models for the +97 and up prelude:
prelude base 5spd - 200hp & 156lbs of torque
prelude base automatic (sports shift) - 195hp & 156lbs of torque
prelude type SH (5spd) - 200hp & 156lbs of torque
i believe after +99, the prelude base automatic hp was up to 200hp(not for sure tho). another thing, all +97 and up preludes have the vtec engine.
*note it's "vtec" not "vtech."
the disadvantage of the prelude is the low-end torque. if you can beat the prelude off the line with a good launch your almost on your way to that $20. beaware that the prelude's advantage is it's mid to high power (vtec kicks in), so keep the race short. avoid highways/freeways because the prelude will definitely win.
i don't support illegal street racing but i've had my illegal street race here and there. if you can, try taking it to the track. play it safe if possible.
i've lost to an older generation maxima, and i do admit defeat. but the maxima (probably a +95 to +97 model) had a real good launch on me and the street race was a short sprint. i never got the chance to pull on him because i backed down. so keep it short and you will definitely win this one! good luck sexima!

Nice lude you got there. I almost got myself a Prelude. I have always like the Prelude. Styling and everything. Less common than the Integras. My friend has a '97 Prelude base, I have asked him to race me, but he always decline saying he won't beat him because I got a V6... Yeah, he might lose to me because all he got is an intake, but still...it's not like I'm that fast anyway. Oh well...again, nice lude.

Thanks for your info people and thanks to lude for being so generous.
I didn't race the lude because he got alot of tickets and stuff so he didn't want to do it...
me personally don't like ludes much because i heard it's very uncomfortable because it's so low to the ground.
but i like the look on the outside ^^

cumalot,
thanks for the compliment
sexima,
your right, the prelude does sit really low. for some reason, i can't stand driving my younger brothers acura integra. the seating position sits higher in the integra then the prelude and it just makes me feel a bit akward.
iregula,
i felt exactly the same way when the newier body style prelude came out. i did not like the front-end of the prelude. two years later, i bought the car.
as for the maximas, nissan keeps on getting better every year. i can't believe the power of the new altima and the maxima. i wish honda could learn from nissan in improving performance. if only honda would come out with a 300hp accord. don't get me wrong, i love hondas and my car but nissan is giving what people want. performance with attitude!

none of the members of this forum have posted a negative comment towards me. it's all about constructive criticism and i can accept that. as for superhonda.com its known for a lot of negative messages and some of the members are a bit immature.
try using www.honda-acura.net or www.preludeonline for any of your honda/acura questions.
my first car and still my daily-driver is a 92 ford mustang LX5.0
and trying to compare the prelude to the mustang is like trying to compare an orange to a apple.
what i would really like to do is go for a 4door sedan. i guess i'm getting older or just maturing, and a 4door sports sedan is something i want. i could go for the acura tl type S or maybe even a nissan.
