A couple ?? about my new Max

Hello everyone! I've been lurking and searching about a week. Lots of great info. I'm a longtime Nissan fan, have a 94 Pathfinder SE, and just bought a 95 Max SE. Black, black leather, Bose, auto-climate, roof.

Can anyone tell me what was standard equipment on this car? Do all Maxs have rear sway bar? Just beefed up on SE? Will be adding FSTB next week, does SE need rear?

Thanks!

I believe there's already a rear sway bar on a 4th gen max, but its really weak, so if you get the Stillen or Addco one you will improve your cornering a lot.

You can put a Rear Strut Bar on too, but I heard it doesnt really do much, compared to the FSTB.

4th Gen Maxima's are not equipped with a rear sway bar or "Rear Anti-Sway Bar." Zip. Nada. Zero. Zilch.

This is one of the single best improvements you can make to the handling of a 4th Gen. Don't bother with the RSTB, unless you're going to be racing at track events or autocross. The handling benefit is negligible on the street & it's installation does cost you a small amount of trunk space.

FSTB & RSB will do a great amount of good.

That's wht I used to think. If you get under your car and look at the botom of the rear beam, you will see that the sway bar is integrated into the beam. There is a round bar inside the C-section of the beam.

That's the OEM rear sway bar. And it doesnt do jack.

Ok, ok...

It is not effective enough for the needs of even a remotely spirited driver, as evidenced by the disgusting amount of understeer and body roll we get from the factory susppension setup.

...how's that?

Thanks for the input everyone.

Does anyone know what exactly makes the SE different from the other models, I thought SE referred to a handling/suspension package?

On the SE;

The susepnsion is more firm than a GXE or GLE
The wheels are bigger
You get the nice white face gages
A rear spoiler
On the outside, the door handles and the grille are the same color as the car. The GLEs and GXEs have chrome there.

There are a few other things, but this covers the major ones.

So does that mean that you have to remove this in order to put an aftermarket one on? I'm not completely up to speed as to how to install a RSB, so I need some help.

Nope. The aftermarket sway bars are used in addition to the stock unit. They will come with mounting instructions.
