noisey blower motor

Ok, I took the blower out, and oiled it with 3&1. After about a month (in the midwest cold and warm, wet and dry) it has started to squeal again. What kind of oil is everyone using to fix this for good? Will a new blower squeal after time? Please help, it is driving me crazy!

Sounds like the bearing in the blower motor is going bad. I have the same problem. From talking with the parts manager at Nissan it's a freak'in fortune for a new blower motor. He told me to try and get the bearing out and take it to a bearing manufacturer. They will be able to match it up. A new bearing should be $5 - $10.

I have not actually pulled my blower motor out so I don't know how easy/hard it is to get the bearing out.

Another option I found is that Siemens manufactures a compatible blower motor that can be purchased new for less than $70, which is like 1/3 the cost of the Nissan motor. I found it through Advance Auto Parts web page, and will be doing the swap this spring.

You can pick up a recycled blower motor from www.car-part.com for a lot less than one from Nissan if you decide to replace it.

Yeah, but these prices don't look all that much lower, and they're used. ANd if it's a used Nissan motor you get, the problem will more than likely come back eventually. I'd rather pay the extra $20 and get a brand new Siemens motor that will most likely last the life of the car.

They are arranged in decreasing order. If you look towards the last few pages you'll find better prices in your search. I found some as low as $25. I agree that if it's only a few bucks more for a brand new one I would go with it but sometimes a used one (or recycled) one can be just as durable. Just thought you'd like another option.

Of course another opinion/option is always appreciated, and I may use this source for other parts (hadn't heard of it before).

Thanks!
