Hopefully someone can help me. I've just installed the Cattman ss Y pipe on my 99 SE-L with CA/NLEV emissions and I have a few questions regarding the first O2 senser coming off the Y pipe. The design of the SS Cattman has this O2 senser and cable approximatley 2-3mm away from the transmission pan. While it works fine today my fear is over time this cable may brake due to friction or heat from the trans pan.

So I have the following questions.

1) Has anyone else come across this problem and if so what have you done to resolve this.

2) Does Nissan or a third party make a shorter O2 senser that can be used in this application.

TIA for you assistance.

Here is what I did >>>>>>.

I have the STILLEN Y-PIPE and it makes one of the O2 sensors come really close to what looks like the right axle, but a nonmoving part of the axle. I went to an electrical or electronics shop and bought a foot long of heatshrink tubing, probably 1 1/2 inches in diameter or somewhere around that. Basically it is just large enough to cover part of the O2 sensor and some of the wires. I used a blow dryer to heat shrink it on the O2 sensor, make sure NOT I repeat NOT to cover up the flat part where you can grip it with a wrench. While blow drying it did shrink it down a bit, I started the car up and drove around for about 10 miles and the heat of the O2 sensor made the heatshrink tubing shrink nice and tight around the O2 sensor with alot of room for the wires. This really seems to protect the wires from any damage, MAKE sure that before you screw in the O2 sensor that you unplug it so it does not twist the wires. Good Luck !!!!!!

1. never had a problem with mine, i think there's already a heat resistant sheath over the O2 sensor wires.

2. beats me.
