heated seats?!

i havea 95 SE with tan cloth... i heard that the wiring for the heated seats is really in all versions of the cars just not hooked up cause the seats don't have the unit in it.... is this true?

if so is there a way i can buy just the heating unit and install it in my seats on my own? or do i have to buy seats with them in it? i know there is a guy selling his seats with it for $200

I don't see the worth of having heated seats with cloth interior, even during those cold zero-degree start-ups in the morning. Now if the interior was leather (or that old vinyl crap used in my '72 Olds) then maybe it's warranted.

As long as the seats can physically accomodate the heating unit, wiring won't be a problem. However, you would have to cut open a seam on your seat, and unless you had a professional sew it back up, it would probably end up looking like crap. You would also need to buy switches. You really are better off just buying the seats that are already equipped with heating units.

BTW, I think if you do it, you will be disapointed when you try them out. They really aren't that warm, just help take the bite out of cold leather. Cloth seats don't have that bite, so I don't think you will notice much difference.

Lately I've been using my heated seats after hockey games to soothe my aching back. They get as hot as I'd want. My g/f uses it all the time - robbing horsepower I think all the wiring is in place; you'll just have to make connections. Maybe you have to put fuses in too? I don't know for sure. Look under your seats now and see if you have some 'spare' connectors not going to anything. I have power and heated seats and there are 3 different connections under the seat. I assume you know where the factory switches go and therefor know where the wires are for that. Good luck.

Mine (95 SE) and I think all others are between the gear selector and the center armrest. Mine flank a coin holder that is directly behind my spill cuasers ehhh, I mean, cup holders.

I'd try junk yards or Ebay first. Maybe even put a post in the for sale/ wanted to buy section here on the org. Other than that there is always the dealer$ship. Good luck.
